With a growing presence in the US market, we are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior BIPV Engineer to join our team.
Position Overview
The Senior BIPV Engineer will play a pivotal role in the development, testing, and implementation of ClearVue's cutting-edge BIPV technologies for commercial, residential, and industrial applications. Based in San Jose or the Bay Area, this role will report operationally to the US CEO and functionally to the Global CEO, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and Chief Operations Officer (COO).
This role requires a dynamic individual with a deep understanding of photovoltaic systems, energy modelling, and integration into architectural applications. The ideal candidate will have a mix of technical expertise, project management skills, and a strategic mindset to drive product development and commercialisation in the US market.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Development & Integration:
- Lead the design, engineering, and integration of BIPV systems into architectural applications, ensuring compliance with local US building codes and standards.
- Collaborate with the US and global R&D teams to enhance product performance and optimize energy efficiency.
- Oversee the adaptation of ClearVue's technologies for US market requirements.
Project Management:
- Support ClearVue licensees in the management of end-to-end delivery of projects involving BIPV installations, from concept design to execution.
- Support ClearVue licensees in coordinating with architects, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of BIPV systems into end-customer projects.
Testing & Compliance:
- Support product testing and validation in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with certification bodies to achieve relevant compliance for ClearVue products in the US market.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Serve as a technical liaison between the US team and ClearVue's global tech team and global leadership.
- Provide regular updates and insights to the Global CEO, CTO, and COO regarding project progress and challenges.
Market Adaptation:
- Contribute to the localisation of global technologies for optimal performance in the US.
- Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to keep ClearVue's offerings competitive.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in photovoltaic systems design, with ideally at least 3 years in BIPV.
- Proficient in PV system modelling software (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope) and energy performance analysis.
- Strong understanding of US building codes, electrical codes, and permitting processes related to photovoltaics.
- Demonstrated experience with architectural integration and working with multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong project management and communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with glass or glazing systems.
- Familiarity with energy-efficient building design principles (e.g., U-value, SHGC).
- Knowledge of IoT and smart building technologies is a plus.
- Experience with UL, IEC, or other certification processes for PV systems.
